Midianite Curse

Breaking the Midianite curse allows you to accumulate your resources from year to year and from generation to generation.

Judges 6:1-6 Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and for seven years he gave them into the hands of the Midianites. Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds. Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples invaded the country. They camped on the land and ruined the crops all the way to Gaza and did not spare a living thing for Israel, neither sheep nor cattle nor donkeys. They came up with their livestock and their tents like swarms of locusts. It was impossible to count the men and their camels; they invaded the land to ravage it. Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the LORD for help.

Who were the Midianites?

Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah. She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan; the descendants of Dedan were the Asshurites, the Letushites and the Leummites. The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah. Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac. But while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east.

What was God’s agenda for Abraham? He was to be the Father of a covenant nation. He tried to help God fulfill His agenda with human resources when Ishmael was conceived.

Abraham sinned in taking Katurah. He knew that he had sinned. He didn’t marry her but had her as a concubine. Before he died he sent them away to the east. Why? He sent them away from his son Isaac. He knew Isaac was his responsibility. He wanted some comfort. He created an enemy. God wanted to fulfill His agenda in a supernatural way. So, the individual who puts comfort and security ahead of God’s agenda, who limits God’s agenda to what they can do safely, is opening up the door to the Midianite curse

Judges 6:12-16 - Gideon

When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, "The LORD is with you, mighty warrior." "But sir," Gideon replied, "if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, 'Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?' But now the LORD has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian." The LORD turned to him and said, "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?" "But Lord , " Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family." The LORD answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together."

Judges 7: 22-26 When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the LORD caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. The army fled to Beth Shittah toward Zererah as far as the border of Abel Meholah near Tabbath. Israelites from Naphtali, Asher and all Manasseh were called out, and they pursued the Midianites. Gideon sent messengers throughout the hill country of Ephraim, saying, "Come down against the Midianites and seize the waters of the Jordan ahead of them as far as Beth Barah." So all the men of Ephraim were called out and they took the waters of the Jordan as far as Beth Barah. They also captured two of the Midianite leaders, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb at the winepress of Zeeb. They pursued the Midianites and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon, who was by the Jordan.

The sign of the Midianite curse is the seasonal devouring. It comes in a predictable manner. The pattern will vary. The most obvious pattern is an annual pattern. Which month is difficult? It could be odd and even years. It could be every 10 years. Patterns will vary from individual to individual. (Churches, cities, families)

The other sign is the inability to get ahead. As soon as you get ahead there is something that happens with the devouring of funds. As soon as there is some savings or credit cards paid off there is a devouring of those assets. Either one of these signs are an indication that you are operating under the Midianite curse in your finances.

Where does this come from?

The gift of giving was designed to give the resources necessary to help others to possess their birthright. The Jews have the redemptive gift of giving.

3 most important gifts the world has ever received:

The written Word and the Living Word and Davidic worship

These 3 gifts that we use to possess our birthright are much more important than all the money that the world has received.

The gift of giving functions in many diverse applications. This is has so many different ways to operate.

Legitimacy lie: I am legitimate when I can provide the resources for others to possess their birthright.

The giver gives far more wisely then any of the other gifts. They give strategic gifts that leverage others into their birthright.

Therefore the giver is prone to control. The worse case scenario is that the giver creates an unhealthy dependence on the part of other people. They get their legitimacy from having individuals need them at all times.

Frequently the giver has their own agenda. Their own agenda is for them to either feel comfortable or safe. That is what devours the stewardship work of the giver.

Israel was commanded to possess the land. God said you’re to drive out everybody. They drove out enough to the enemy to be comfortable, they settled down, began to farm, to develop their communities and they failed to accomplish all of God’s agenda.

God is not interested in the comfort and security that the giver can produce for himself. God never intended money to provide security or stasis. God wants to fulfill His agenda in a supernatural way. So the individual who puts comfort and security ahead of God’s agenda, who limits God’s agenda to what they can do safely, is opening up the door to the Midianite curse.

The opposite of stewardship is ownership. The gift of giving is very prone to ownership using God’s resources for themselves. God has not called us to own. In the Old Testament there was a measure of ownership. You gave your tithe and you owned the rest and you could do what you wanted. But in the New Testament God is very plain, He wants it all. Every single thing that we are and that we have belongs to Him.

Jesus never did anything to get anything in return. He allowed His needs to be seen. The giver desires to meet his own needs, and have his own security, and then out of that position of security give to others. Jesus was tired and thirsty at the well in Samaria. He never used God’s power to avoid pain for himself. People met Jesus needs. He allowed himself to be dependant on the people.

Who has authority over this curse?

1. Those who want to possess their birthright badly enough that comfort and security are expendable.

2. Those who are willing to risk whatever it takes to possess their birthright. Whatever God has called them to do, pay the priceand not count the cost. Those people will have a high degree of authority over the Midianite curse. Those who are willing to be dependant upon God in the process.

3. A giver who seeks to empower others and not to control them.

America has been under the Midianite Curse: Every 69 years

1791 – Virginia ratified the bill of rights to make the constitution viable

1860 – Civil War began when So. Carolina voted to succeed from the Union.

1929 – Great Depression

1998 – Because of intercession God held it off.

1. I confess the sin of my ancestors, my parents and my own sin of ________________.

2. I choose to forgive and release my ancestors, as well as all others who have influenced me, for these sins and curses, and for the consequences in my life (Be specific).

3. I ask You to forgive me, Lord, for these sins; for yielding to them and to the curses. I receive Your forgiveness.

4. On the basis for Your forgiveness, Lord, I choose to forgive myself for entering into these sins.

5. I renounce the sins and curses of __________. I break these powers from my life and from the lives of my descendants through the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross.

6. I receive God’s freedom from these sins and from the resulting curses. I receive ________________________.

DELIVERANCE:(Use the same list as above for deliverance.)

1. In the name of Jesus, I renounce and break all agreements with the demons (stronghold) of__________, including all associated demons of (see list above)

2. I take authority over the demons (stronghold) of ________ and command you to leave me now based on the finished work of Christ on the Cross and my authority as a believer.

Prayer to Breaking the Curse of Poverty

Father I come in the name of Jesus to repent for the sins and transgressions of my ancestors. I repent for all disobedience of Your commands, turning away and listening to the enemy or to other people. Father I receive the redemption from the curse by the Blood of Jesus and ask You to break all curses of poverty upon my family line and me. I declare that the Blood of Jesus has broken all the curses!

I repent for any generational dishonesty, even the smallest, hidden, accepted or self justified dishonesty.

Lord, I repent for all of my ancestors that were liars, hasty, lovers of the world and it’s pleasure, proud, arrogant and selfish. I repent for the lack of diligence, oppression of the needy, exploitation and favoritism. I repent for all rejection of God and any cursing or blasphemy of God.

Lord I repent for all family sluggishness, laziness, neglect, lack of judgment or for any charging exorbitant interest. I repent for any and all family concealed sins. I repent for spiritual pride in those that would not repent.

I repent for anyone in my family that followed deceptive words and relied on their social or religious identity for salvation. I repent for injustice, oppressing the widows and fatherless. I repent for any idolatry, ungodly sacrifices, adultery, perjury and murder. I repent for all backsliding, rebellion, pride, and spiritual pride. Lord please break all connections and control that the queen of heaven has on my family and Lord please restore in us wholeness. Please make our hearts pure, noble, faithful, humble and sensitive to you.

Lord I repent for all my ancestors that were boastful and proud of their position, standing and authority. I renounce all the love of sin and iniquity. I repent for all that became comfortable, selfish, hoarders, and trusted in their wealth. I repent for all that sold their righteousness, for all slavery and for all trampling of the poor. I repent for all who were stingy and controlling of wealth.

Lord I repent for everyone that was controlling, deceptive, and put ungodly burdens on others. I repent for those that tried to please man rather than please God and accepted the praise, honor worship or ungodly authority and titles from men. I renounce all religious spirits, spirits of legalism, self-exaltation and hypocrisy. I repent for all who did not enter the door to heaven and shut it on others. I repent for all who were blind guides and I ask You Lord to break all ungodly oaths, covenants, pledged, dedications and alliances. I repent for all ungodly and insincere sacrifices or any sacrifices on an ungodly alter. I repent for everyone who was unjust, merciless, unfaithful and greedy. I repent for any harboring of sin or wickedness. I repent for anyone that rejected, mocked, cursed or killed the prophets and messengers of God. I renounce any spiritual pride that rebels against repentance and I apply the Blood of Jesus to all the roots. Lord, please break all curses that have come upon my family because they were rich, comfortable, well fed and accepted the praises of men.

I repent for all generational wrong attitudes about wealth and poverty, and I place the cross between me and all iniquity relating to poverty in my family line in the precious name of Jesus, Amen!!

Evah Mugerwa and her husband John Michael are an apostles in Uganda and surrounding areas of East Africa. They received a vision from God to take care of orphaned children during the time when AIDS was sweeping across their nation. They were obedient to God and began taking orphaned children one by one into our tiny home, ending up with13 in all. In 2000, the Lord gave them a hill of 22 acres and they started by making their own bricks on site, baking them and finally construction could begin. They had enough donations to construct two buildings: one for classrooms, and the other a dormitory. In January 2003, they opened Destiny Orphanage and Boarding School. She is a dynamic women of God. You won't want to miss this.

Greg received the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the call to preach the gospel when he was 27. He has served in the Body of Christ in various capacities including Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor and church Elder. An encounter with the Father heart of God in 1994 set him and his wife on a path of restoration which set them free from wounds and strongholds identifying them more with the spirit of son-ship and less as orphans. Greg and Mary have a desire to see other believers know their Identity in Christ and experience a revelation of the Father heart of God.

God has used Greg in the marketplace to bring not just information but a demonstration of the gospel. He has authored a book called Diary of a Witness/ Taking Christ to the marketplace. His ministry has taken him to the Nations with a specific call to Ireland.

Greg has served as Vice President of the International Fellowship of Ministries for the past 18 years. Currently Greg is an Elder at Seattle Revival Center where he oversees the Restoring the Foundations ministry within the Church, Visitation & Outreach to the community and the Soaking Prayer Center within the Church. Greg and Mary have two grown children whom are married and two grandchildren. Greg Daley and his wife Mary have been married since 1977 and make their home in Kent, Washington.

Rick Moyer asked Jesus into his heart at a Christian rock concert over 24 years ago. Since that time his life took on a very different direction. He worked in the world of Christian radio for over ten years as a disc jockey, program director and station manager. He also started his own Christian rock band and toured Western Washington in the late 80's. After working at the local Union Gospel mission in recovery ministry, Rick obeyed the call upon his life and began the work as a youth pastor at a large charismatic church in his local area. After 11 years in pastoring he resigned as pastor and started an outreach website called "Take Him With You" He also produces a podcast (an on demand audio program) every week where he plays songs that he has recorded, encourages people to explore their faith and talks about pop culture with a Spiritual twist. Scott is a real estate investor, developer, and general contractor. He specializes in cash flow properties & business activities. Operating through the Lindsay Group LLC, Scott has focused on residential new construction and land development for the last five years. Prior to that Scott worked in the trades as a journeyman carpenter doing commercial construction.

Due to the present economic climate, Scott has shifted his focus towards land development. His current project is a 54 space RV park in rural Thurston County. Scott believes this project will meet the needs of people who are transitioning in this volitle economic market.

Patsy Chmelar is gifted as a strategic warfare prayer leader taking teams to the nations to change the spiritual climate and to equip ministers and leaders to impact their nation for the Lord. Her passion is to help hurting people be free from their woundedness to live the life God intended for them.

Patsy is a member of International Breakthrough Ministries (lbM) under Apostle Barbara Wentroble. Patsy was on staff with lbM and traveled with Apostle Barbara as her Executive Assistant for two years where she received a tremendous amount of mentoring and training as well as hands on experience. Patsy is also a member of Women in Strategic Leadership (WSL), a mentoring group under Apostle Naomi Dowdy of Singapore. Patsy is a student of Wagner Leadership Institute working towards a Masters Degree in Ministry.

Patsy received most of her strategic warfare prayer training from Rebecca Greenwood of Christian Harvest International of Colorado Springs, CO, as a member of several teams that Rebecca led to the nations.

Patsy and her husband, Glen, are Co-founders of Harmony International Ministries. It is the vision of HIM to “not put God in a box,” to be available to do what God calls them to do when He calls them. They were Co-Labor Chairmen over 400 workers/volunteers at the Franklin Graham Festival in College Station, TX. They have ministered to over one hundred Texas A&M and Baylor University students through a “Faith Walk” at their ranch as well as had Bible studies in their home.

Patsy and Glen live in College Station, Texas and have two adult children, a daughter-in-law, two grandchildren and are the Texas parents of Joy Duda.

Born in Indiana and raised in Oklahoma, Star Williams was brought up an only child by her single mother Gwen. Defying the statistics (for children from 'single parent' homes) that said she'd be on drugs, pregnant out of wedlock, and delinquent Star was nurtured with the fear and admonition of God. To this day she has defeated those odds by remaining abstinent, not using drugs, and graduating with honors from Oral Roberts University, a private Christian school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Star gives all glory and honor to Jesus Christ as she empowers other teens and young adults to live a vibrant, dynamic, and electrifying life of purity (1 Tim. 4:12). Star inspires youth and adults alike that once you give your life to Jesus, he can and will keep you through a committed relationship with Him. She passionately believes in the keeping power of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 1:8).

They are Healing House Ministers for the Restoring the Foundations (RTF) ministry which is led by Chester and Betsy Kylstra. This Thursday Scott Sherman will be teaching on Nurturing Your Spirit. This is a wonderful teaching that has had life changing results. Many people are beginning to use this activation with babies in the womb and people with diseases that hinder their thinking. We just wanted to encourage you to be at Thursday evenings foundational teaching on the Orphan Lifestyle. This will help to shift you from the lifestyle created by your life experiences into the Kingdom of God. For us personally this broke open the flood gates of God's love and inheritance to us.

We arrived home on February the 12th. Lake Tahoe was beautiful! Our plan is to stay home and work on the NW RTF Training Center. We are beginning with a conference on March 28+29 to plant a first fruit into our region. The conference is free. I an including the information.

Northwest Regional RTF Conference

This year’s conference will cover various topics such as the Father and Mother Heart of God; Spiritual Warfare, Listening to the voice of the Lord, Expanding the Kingdom – all topics that cover the core values of Restoring the Foundations. No prior knowledge, contact or training with RTF is required. Trauma to Joy

We use this prayer when we are ministering to someone who has experienced a traumatic event.

TRAUMA PRAYER:

“Lord Jesus, I ask that by the power of the Holy Spirit you would remove all natural shock, trauma, fear and terror of:
The cells of my body.
My heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, reproductive organs, hormones, etc.
My eyes, nose, throat, ears, skin, nails
My muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, cartilage, bones, and bone marrow.
My blood stream and my DNA.
My nervous system from the stem of my brain to my nerve endings.
My mind, on the conscious level, the subconscious level and the unconscious level.
My emotions, my will, my identity and my spirit.
All non-cognitive and pre-verbal memories
All cognitive and verbal memories.
My amygdala (uh-mig’-duh-luh) and my hypothalamus (hy-po-thala’-mus). Please return them to their natural functioning states, turning off he alarm systems and the hypervigilance within me.

I ask Lord Jesus that you would receive all the silent screams from my body. I ask that you would turn off the fight and flight response that has been activated by the shock and trauma from this event and that you would restore the fight and flight response to your original design within me.

I ask Lord Jesus that you would restore my brain to its natural homeostasis (hom-e-o-stasis) and that you would establish new neurological connections within me to the joy center.

Lord Jesus I ask that you would fill my cells with your peace, your love, and your joy. Please bring my body to a place of rest. I ask all of this in Jesus holy name. Amen.

Shame Based Families vs Grace Filled Families

Shame-Based Family

In shame-based relationships you will find the following characteristics:

1.Out-Loud Shaming:
The message communicated is: “Something is wrong with you”; “You are defective”; “You don’t measure up”; “Why can’t you be like…”

2.Performance-Orientation:
The focus is on doing certain good behaviors and avoiding others as a means of earning love, gaining acceptance, acquiring approval, or proving value. Failure to perform results in shame.

3.Unspoken Rules:
Behavior is governed by rules or standards that are seldom, if ever, spoken out loud. In fact, sometimes the only way they are discovered is when they are broken. There is a “can’t talk about it” rule in effect- which means no one is supposed to notice or mention problems; and if you speak out about a problem, you are the problem. This forces people to keep quiet. There is also a “can’t-win” rule in effect. For instance, children are taught never to lie; they are also told to never tell Grandma her meatloaf tastes bad. No matter how hard you try to keep these contradictory rules, you always fail to perform. And failure to perform results in shame. These rules tend to govern future relationships, unless they are realized and broken on purpose.

4.Communicating Through “Coding”:
Talking about feelings or needs leaves you feeling ashamed for being so “selfish”. Talking about problems breaks the “can’t talk about it” rule and gets you shamed for being the problem. Therefore, family members learn to say things in code, or they send messages to each other indirectly through other people.

5.Idolatry:
Family members are taught to turn to things and people other than God’s acceptance as the measure of their value and identity. The measuring stick becomes: how things look; what people think; religious behavior; acquiring possessions.

6.Putting Kids Through A Hard time:
Kids are involved in the messy and imperfect process of finding out about life. But the family cares most about how things look and what people think. Therefore, just being a kid becomes a shaming thing. Children must learn to act like miniature adults in order to avoid shame.

7.Preoccupation With Fault And Blame:
Since there is such a focus on performance in this family, lack of performance must be tracked down and eradicated. Fault and blame are the order of the day. The purpose of the question, “Who is responsible?” is to find out who to blame. That way the culprit can be shamed, humiliated, and made to feel so bad that he won’t do the behavior again.

8.Strong On “Head Skills”:
Family members become experts at defending themselves. Blaming, rationalizing, minimizing, and denial are just some of the ways people try to push away the shame message- usually in vain.

9.Weak On “Heart Skills”:
“Can’t feel” is another rule governing this system. Feelings are wrong, selfish or unnecessary. People in shame-based families don’t know how they feel or how to respond to their feelings. These are emotionally reactive places.

10.Needy People:
Because love and acceptance was earned on the basis of behavior, but never received apart from performance, shame-based families are characterized by member who are empty on the inside, full-looking on the outside.

Grace-Filled Families

Ten characteristics of grace-filled relationships:

1.Out-Loud Affirming (Vs. Out-Loud Shaming):
In grace-filled families, members are told they are loved and accepted, capable, valuable and supported out loud. Phrases like “I love you,” “You are so capable,” “I’m here for you when you need me,” “I’m glad God put you in our family,” “I’m glad you’re a boy/girl,” “I feel good when I’m with you,” and using a person’s name when speaking to him are just some of the out-loud ways to affirm people.

2.People-Oriented (Vs. Performance-Oriented):
We all need an environment where we feel our needs are met because of who we are and not because of what we do. In grace-filled families, love and acceptance does not fluctuate depending on how people act. People are affirmed for being who they are. In shame-based families, behavior is the most important thing. Who you are comes in last.

3.Out-Loud Rules And Expectations (Vs. Unspoken Rules):
In a grace-filled family, rules are there to serve people; people are not there to serve the rules. In order for rules to serve the family most effectively, everyone needs to know what the rules are.

4.Communication Is Clear And Straight (Vs. Coding):
Coding isn’t helpful for anyone. Children are great observers but terrible interpreters. People receiving your messages should not have to decode them. When you want to send a message decode it first yourself, and then send it straight. Don’t triangle, do not get in the middle of other people’s relationships and run messages.

5.God Is The Source (Vs. Idolatry):
God is our Source. He is our need-meeter, our vindicator, our defender, the one who has the last word on our value and acceptance. We are not valuable and acceptable because of how much money we make, the clothes we wear, our church attendance or because we have been faithful in our giving.

6.Children Are Enjoyed (Vs. Giving The Kids A Hard Time):
In grace-filled families it’s okay for them to act like kids. Normal, healthy kids are “messy” about this business of growing up.

7.Responsibility And Accountability (Vs. Fault And Blame):
Fault and blame are used in shame-based families to punish children for their lack of performance. They become tools in the process of trying to control the behavior of others.

8.“Head Skills” Are Used For Learning (Vs. “Head Skills” Used For Defending:
In grace-filled families, thinking is for the purpose of learning. In shame-based families it is used to defend, to blame, to make excuses and to get out of being responsible. In shame-based families, the question “Why did you do that?” is a trap. There is no answer that is acceptable. Whatever you say will be analyzed and criticized. In grace-filled families people are pre-approved, and the question “Why did you do that?” is just a simple inquiry to understand the reason why something was done.

9.Feelings Are Valid And Useful (Vs. Weak On “Heart Skills”):
Feelings are not right or wrong, they simple exist. The choices we make in response to our feelings determine good or bad, right or wrong results of our feelings-that is, whether they are helpful or damaging. Grace-filled families recognize the feelings and expression of emotions as opportunities for family members to connect with one another.

10.It’s Okay For Outsides To Match Insides (Vs. Empty People Learning To Act Full):
In grace-filled families, what is real is more important than how things look. Life is seen with a process perspective rather than an event perspective. This means that people don’t have to react, or attempt to “cure” behavior forever. Because God is involved, you don’t have to panic: The story is not over, even if it doesn’t look good right now. Unacceptable behaviors are about poor choices, not about our value and acceptance as people. Grace-filled family members don’t have to fix one another in order to fix themselves.
